Working online as a typist or data entry operator provides flexibility (you can decide your own working hours, working places, environment to work online), what you need to have is just a computer or laptop with internet connection, typing speed, knowledge of computer operation.

Data Processing involves a little typing works but it is centered on typing, correction to enter the data or to format the data according to specific requirements of the companies.
Data Conversion means converting data from one file type to other file type(s), for example you can convert .doc file to .pdf file, .pdf file to .doc file or other extensions according to the requirements. In the process of converting file(s), there may be some errors if you are using any software so you have to correct them, you may need OCR (optical character reorganization) software as well.
Medical Transcription involves converting audio file into word file. For example, you can listen audio and type in word or other software to make a record, this data is used by the company. Publishing Houses need data entry operators to collect data for the purpose of publishing, you need to collect data according to specific requirement, you can search online and put all the information at one place so that it can be used for publishing, survey, polling, etc.
Hand Written Documents can also be converted into a word file; here you need to type by seeing the hand-written document into word file so that the word file can be used whenever needed. Most importantly, hand written documents are handled by almost all the companies, firms, organizations so this is basic requirement in typing work, you should have good understanding of reading hand-written materials.

Beware of Scam Companies who promise to provide legit typing works at home but they don’t provide any work, instead they are trying to take your money, they have their attractive websites which would attract you to register the website, and there is some registration fee, they may steal your credit card information too.  Before you register with any website, you should research about the company first to see if it is legit or scam, a simple search in Google would help a lot in understanding if the company is legit company or scam company, if that is a scam company, you would see lots of bad reviews posted by those who were scammed by these companies.

Discipline is very important thing if you are working at home, if you don’t keep yourself in a discipline you won’t know where you started and where you are going to end. You should have a plan, you should have an expectation from your work, most importantly you should have dedication to work as a typist, you should be able to accept any challenges if needed.

• Freelance websites are great place for finding typing related works, there is bidding system so you have to go through bidding to win a project, you would learn a lot of things about freelancing when you sign up with the freelance sites and you pass few months with those sites.
• Forums are also a good place for finding typing related works, try looking for works in service section of some top webmaster forums such as DigitalPoint Forum, Warrior Forum etc.
• Classified Sites such as Craigslist or your local classified sites according to your location would be the best place to find local clients who provide typing works at home.
• Job Portals in your area would also help a lot, you need to create your own account, try searching within the job portal site according to your skills.
• Local News Papers are also great source of finding works; try searching in appropriate section, the news paper may by daily or weekly news paper.
